If you take a walk down the corridors of present-day Christianity, or look through the pages of contemporary liturgy, you will quickly feel the influence of BritainÃs leading Christian Music Company, Kingsway Music, and its affiliate catalog of congregational worship songs, Thankyou Music.
In the late sixties, in a season when young people were turning to Jesus en masse and beginning to express their faith in the musical idiom of the day, Kingsway was launched as the pioneer CCM label in the UK, enjoying global chart success with its first ever release.
In the mid seventies, as the face of the church began to change and this generation of believers started gathering in newly formed 'house churches', Kingsway again forged new ground by capturing the emerging worship sound and songs on tape.
After years of excavating these kingdom jewels and watching them carve out a niche for themselves in the church worldwide, Kingsway remains at the forefront of worship music ñ continually exploring for fresh creativity in youth culture, prophesying the link between worship and mission, and expanding its mainstay of songs that are rich in theology and poetry, the hymns of the future.
Kingsway's breakthrough in worship and mission occurred when we took our worship conference to the Amazon in 2003. We went to worship but God showed us that loving him would always result in loving people. Our immediate opportunity to put this into practice was to reach out to the abandoned people in the villages along the Amazon River, and the seeds for Mission Worship were planted. Ray of Hope was birthed and it has now mushroomed into a thriving ministry up and down the banks of the Amazon, bringing the gospel and practical help to kids in dire need. Nine schools have been built, our boat is constantly taking ministry teams into the jungle, we are building a community center on the water for the local tribes, and we have only just begun! We hope that our story will inspire you to be expectant to hear the call of God in your worship.
