Daniel Doss has a deep sense of calling on his life – a passion to lead people to an encounter with a great God. On his band’s forthcoming debut on Sparrow Records, Greater Than Us All, the songs work as catalysts for corporate worship (“Sing Your Name,” “Love Like Rain”), but also act as reminders of well-tread (but often taken for granted) themes: Grace (“God In Me,” “I Need You”), God as Father (“Abba Father”) and His greatness (“Great God”).
It is no coincidence that Daniel found his calling and his gift in leading worshipers with music. It all began in the home of a Minister of Music and Music Teacher. The youngest of three children, Daniel grew up singing and always playing catch-up to his more talented siblings. His parents, Elwood and Carolyn would take their children to sing at area homecomings on Sunday afternoons.
While in high school Daniel was the song leader for a church of about 8 members. From there Daniel spent time serving full time with three different churches during and after finishing college. At each church, he was very involved with youth ministries and began taking his band outside the church to several youth camps and church retreats.
Almost two years ago, God laid it on Daniel’s heart to be the worship pastor for a church plant in the Sango area of Clarksville, Tennessee. Grace Community Church has been an exciting adventure in its first year and a half of existence. With the full support of his church family and co-pastors, Daniel signed with Sparrow Records earlier this year and he remains committed to GCC as he seeks to lead a wider world to encounter God in worship.
Since those outings with the family as a child, Daniel has followed God’s call on his heart into vocational ministry. Whether it is leading a flock of eight committed members as a high school student, the thousands he leads now on a weekly basis or those he may never meet face to face, but reach through the music on his albums, Daniel has always been obedient to the call.
