2 Chronicles 29:10-13

Blessed are you, God of Israel, our father

    from of old and forever.

To you, O God, belong the greatness and the might,

    the glory, the victory, the majesty, the splendor;

Yes! Everything in heaven, everything on earth;

    the kingdom all yours! You’ve raised yourself high over all.

Riches and glory come from you,

    you’re ruler over all;

You hold strength and power in the palm of your hand

    to build up and strengthen all.

And here we are, O God, our God, giving thanks to you,

    praising your splendid Name.

The power of God is the same today as it was so many, many years ago.  We may not have seen some of the miraculous things Jesus did in Scripture, but knowing God comes with the understanding that He alone holds all the power. I had spent years wrestling with seasons of asking God, “why?” In my struggle, I had questions about the power of God. My questions were not always met with answers I needed, but I had to realize that God’s power is God’s and God’s alone. It is within our human nature to wonder why God heals one person physically, but not another. Often times, our focus tends to be on what the power of God can do for us, instead of focussing on what the power of God actually is.

The power of God holds all the heavens together. Its abilities are limitless.  God’s power is not just something we ask for as a way to enhance our performance in a faithful encounter with God. Rather, it is actually the essence that comes from the Spirit of God allowing us to encounter Him. There is power in the breath of God and the stride of God. I have had to remember, that when I invite God into my heart, I invite all of who He is to come with him. So, His power should not be something I am unfamiliar with, nor feel the need to beg for.

To those who are being saved, the message of God is power (1 Corinthians 1:18). Be continuously excited about the power of God in your life. If you need the power of God in your life, stop and reflect on your relationship with God and remember, He has already equipped you to walk in His power. All you have to do is invite Him in.
